English Literature stands out as one of our most varied, thought-provoking, and rigorous fields of study. The foundation year serves as an engaging gateway to higher education, introducing you to humanities and social sciences before advancing to the complete degree curriculum. This option proves perfect if you require additional support after further education or are resuming studies after a break. Upon completing the foundation year, you'll delve into over a millennium of literary works, spanning from Beowulf to modern texts. Our curriculum encompasses both national and international literature, featuring Renaissance works, Gothic fiction, 19th-century classics, and contemporary novels. Additional focus areas include gender studies, cultural studies, and both creative and professional writing. You'll also have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad in destinations like the USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong, or Singapore, enriching your academic journey and future career potential.

Qualification Requirements

Our standard entry requirement is CDD-DDD at A-level or equivalent. We require a minimum of 5 passes at Grade A*-C, including Welsh/English Language. Entry requirements are flexible and all offers are made following a review of the application form, predicted/achieved grades and subjects, the reference and personal statement. The course is also a widening access programme and developed to support those who may not have been able to otherwise gain access to HE.

32 UCAS tariff points at a minimum of GCE AS level. For subjects in Accounting and Finance, a minimum Grade C Maths GCSE is required, IELTS - 5.5 (Minimum of 5.5 in each component)
