This three-year program delves into English and Welsh literature, the Welsh language, and multiculturalism, offering diverse career opportunities by cultivating valuable transferable skills sought by employers. You'll examine linguistic structures, societal communication, and literary works spanning centuries—from 14th-century Welsh poet Dafydd ap Gwilym to contemporary poet Mererid Hopwood. Our flexible curriculum allows you to tailor studies to your interests, whether in Gothic fiction, gender studies, Renaissance works, global literatures, modern writing, 19th-century classics, creative writing, Welsh literary traditions, playwriting, protest poetry, storytelling, or Welsh language policy. Opportunities include collaborations with the Dylan Thomas Centre and National Theatre Wales. Our vibrant campus community thrives through the English Society's literary and cultural events. Academic mentors provide support, while work placements enhance career readiness.
Graduates pursue careers across multiple fields including education, marketing, media, politics, language planning, business, youth services, translation, administration, and public sector roles.
