Designed specifically for aspiring teachers, this physical education program equips you with practical teaching experience across diverse school settings, contemporary child development approaches, and current educational challenges. With work placements integrated throughout all three years, you'll graduate fully equipped to begin your teacher training through PGCE or School Direct programs.
Our curriculum, shaped by postgraduate teacher training experts, ensures you're exceptionally well-prepared for future training applications. Key study areas encompass physical education instruction, teaching methodologies, youth development, motor skills progression, educational psychology, and research techniques. You can also tailor your studies to align with your preferred teaching age groups and professional goals.
Through our leadership of the Southampton School Sports Partnership - an initiative enhancing sports education quality - our students gain access to 72 primary schools, 15 secondary schools, and six further education colleges in the region. This network enables you to apply classroom theories in real-world settings, with practical work forming a crucial component of your evaluations.
