The MSc in Humanitarianism, Aid and Conflict leverages the Department of Development Studies' and SOAS's established strengths in violence, conflict, and global development studies.
This program aims to equip students with analytical skills and a thorough grasp of modern humanitarian assistance complexities, its intersection with conflict and development, and emerging trends in the sector.
Students gain extensive insight into the historical framework of aid in humanitarian situations, major stakeholders at local, regional, and international levels, while exploring theoretical, conceptual, and policy discussions about the political and operational hurdles in global responses to conflicts, natural disasters, and complex crises—including critical perspectives, innovative approaches, regional difficulties, and priorities from developing nations.
