As a PhD candidate, you'll become part of our prestigious, internationally diverse research network, benefiting from academic research and teaching prospects, along with an extensive program of seminars led by top development experts and practitioners. Students can pursue the International Development PhD track by being affiliated with either SOAS, LSHTM, or IoE. Those enrolled in this pathway will participate in an advanced research training seminar organized by LIDC. This program offers participants in the ESRC Doctoral Training Centre's International Development Pathway comprehensive insights into interdisciplinary development approaches and specialized knowledge in chosen focus areas. Every MPhil/PhD student in International Development must complete mandatory coursework and attend departmental research seminars at their registered institution. At SOAS specifically, the Economics and Development Studies departments host regular seminar series, and students are encouraged to actively engage with pertinent research groups.
