The SOAS LLM in Law and Gender provides an interdisciplinary, stimulating, and collaborative environment focused on meaningful engagement with legal and gender issues, especially within Global South contexts. This program examines both historical and contemporary legal frameworks as well as alternative justice approaches concerning gender, sexuality, race, Indigenous rights, class, caste, disability, post-conflict situations, post-colonialism, and environmental justice.
Our community of students and faculty specializes in feminist, queer, and critical race theories of intersectionality, actively participating in innovative research projects across SOAS regions and worldwide.
This LLM program stands out as the premier destination for examining critical interdisciplinary perspectives on law and gender in society. It's built on a distinctive commitment to support you from day one – valuing you as both student and contributor, while honoring your personal background, activism, academic journey, professional history, and future goals to provide solid critical foundations.
You'll study law and gender as primary subjects of critical inquiry within an educational approach that intentionally bridges academic study and activism, theory and practice. This methodology allows each participant to adapt their learning to align with personal aspirations, career objectives, and individual research interests.
