Spanning from the Crusades to modern Middle Eastern affairs, the Mughal dynasty to Gandhi's era, the transatlantic slave trade to Islamic communities in West Africa, SOAS History provides students with a distinctive global perspective to explore the captivating histories of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The combined BA History honors program pairs History with another field or language, requiring three to four years of study based on the chosen subject. The curriculum covers diverse topics including economic systems, religious practices, cultural developments, borderlands, urban centers, and gender studies. This dual-subject approach enables students to carve out a specialized focus within particular geographical, cultural, or academic frameworks.
