The MSc Occupational Therapy pre-registration program is offered through Royal Holloway, University of London's Department of Health Studies, working in partnership with regional collaborators. This program holds validation from the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), which oversees Allied Health Professions, and has received accreditation from the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), the UK's professional organization for occupational therapy practitioners.
Spanning two years, this master's program equips students with both theoretical understanding and hands-on competencies necessary for building a fulfilling career in occupational therapy, including emerging global health positions and social prescribing opportunities both within the UK and internationally. The curriculum features distinctive concentrations in disaster response, sustainable practices, and worldwide health initiatives, while prioritizing practical placements to enhance real-world experience and foster professional connections.
Occupational therapy plays a crucial societal function by assisting individuals in regaining, preserving, or enhancing their ability to engage meaningfully in daily activities. Operating across various disciplines and sectors, the program provides instruction in globally applicable competencies for emergency response situations while expanding comprehension of sustainability's significance and environmental impacts on health, wellness, and care systems.
Students will cultivate clinical judgment and professional decision-making abilities for occupational therapy practice in diverse environments, gaining techniques to support both individual patients and community populations within public health and environmental health contexts.
Through academic instruction and fieldwork experiences, participants will refine their abilities in health assessment and intervention strategies for physical and psychological wellbeing across different age demographics, while also developing competencies in service assessment and enhancement methodologies.
