The Master of Arts in History with a focus on Hellenic Studies allows students to expand their understanding of Greek history and civilization, spanning from the Homeric and Classical eras to Hellenistic and Roman periods, through the Byzantine and Post-Byzantine epochs, up to contemporary times. This program caters to individuals from diverse academic backgrounds and serves as excellent preparation for those aiming to pursue PhD-level research in Greek History and Culture. Graduates may also find opportunities in fields such as education, international relations, government, finance, media, publishing, museum curation, and cultural industries.

During the course, you will explore the defining aspects of Hellenic civilization across different historical periods while gaining specialized expertise in a particular era or academic discipline, such as philosophy, historical studies, legal systems, religious traditions, theatrical arts, linguistics, literary works, epigraphic studies, papyrology, or paleography.

UK Lower Class Honours degree (2:2) or equivalent in History or a related subject in the Humanities or Social Sciences.

Research experience will also be considered.

This course attracts students from a wide range of different disciplines including classics, history, theology, philosophy, literature, law, education, museum studies and palaeography.
Interviews are usually offered to applicants and in some cases, a writing sample is required in the form of an essay. Applicants who are unable to attend an interview, such as overseas students, will be interviewed by telephone.

Pearson Test of English: 61 overall. Writing 69. No other subscore lower than 51.
Trinity College London Integrated Skills in English (ISE): ISE III.
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) grade C
TOEFL iBT: 88 overall, with Reading 18 Listening 17 Speaking 20 Writing 26.
Duolingo: 120 overall, 135 in Literacy, 135 in Production and no sub-score below 100.
