As a joint honors student specializing in Modern Languages, you'll achieve fluency in your selected language—French, German, Italian, or Spanish. Whether you begin at introductory, advanced, or native-level proficiency, you'll focus on essential language components, developing expertise in writing, reading, speaking, and listening, with instruction led by native-speaking educators.
The rest of your modern languages curriculum lets you delve into the literature, art, culture, and history of your chosen language region. Topics range from 17th-century French drama to portrayals of youth in German society, and from Italian fashion and design to visual arts spanning the Spanish-speaking world. As a language student, you'll refine your communication and research abilities while mastering multiple languages and gaining intercultural insights.
During your third year, you'll have the chance to spend a year abroad working, teaching, or studying, fully immersing yourself in another language and culture—an experience that will significantly expand your worldview.
