Want to maintain your passion for music while delving into the full spectrum of mathematical concepts? Ever since Pythagoras established his theory linking arithmetic, geometry, and music through fundamental principles of proportion and harmony in the 6th century BC, these fields have continuously shaped one another. Both disciplines focus on crafting, appreciating, and examining abstract patterns and logical frameworks. Our combined degree program lets you keep your career paths flexible while equally dividing your focus between mathematics and music, guided by inspiring educators from both departments.
During your studies, you'll enjoy the freedom to customize your learning based on your interests. In your first year, alongside essential Mathematics modules that provide a solid foundation in core principles, you can choose from diverse practical and academic offerings from one of the UK's leading music departments (Complete University Guide 2015). As you progress into years 2 and 3, this flexibility expands, enabling deeper specialization in your preferred areas of mathematics and music. You'll refine both your musical and mathematical expertise to an advanced level while acquiring valuable transferable skills like data analysis, logical reasoning, communication, creativity, and problem-solving.
