Robert Gordon University provides a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) program in Mechanical and Offshore Engineering. This program trains students to approach problems systematically and rationally to address practical challenges. Graduates will develop the expertise to handle complex situations and balance competing demands for a fulfilling professional journey. With a global perspective, the curriculum covers oil and gas extraction, offshore platform construction, pipeline systems, downhole technology, and energy conversion. The initial two years share coursework with other Mechanical Engineering programs, allowing students to choose their specialization after Year 2.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), licensed by the UK's Engineering Council, has accredited this program. This endorsement confirms the degree meets the rigorous standards outlined in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). Completing this accredited program fulfills the educational requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status and substantially prepares students for Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification. Many employers prioritize graduates from accredited programs, and international agreements often recognize these qualifications across participating nations.
