Robert Gordon University's one-year BA Photography program will develop your photographic skills across creative, professional, fine art, and design fields through research, experimentation, innovation, and business initiatives.

The curriculum features various activities and optional projects spanning editorial work, documentary photography, photojournalism, motion pictures, film, advertising, fashion, corporate photography, portraiture, landscapes, exhibitions, and curation. You'll study influential photographers while deepening your knowledge of photography's historical, cultural, and economic significance. Additionally, you can engage in entrepreneurial ventures through our Enterprise Partners Network, fostering a business-oriented mindset.

After completing this program, you'll be eligible to transition into either the BA (Hons) Communication Design or BA (Hons) Contemporary Art Practice programs with a photography specialization.

Qualification Requirements

Higher National Diploma: A relevant HND from one of our partner colleges will be considered for entry into Year 3 subject to successfully meeting the partner course criteria.

All advanced entry applicants with the appropriate qualifications (or due to sit appropriate qualifications) and who successfully meet the criteria stated will be invited to attend an 'advanced' portfolio review/interview and participate in a selection process.


IELTS - 6.0 overall, with no component lower than 5.5, or an equivalent.
TOEFL iBT - 80 (Writing 17, Speaking 20, Listening 17, Reading 18), PTE Academic - 56 with no band less than 51
