The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) for Information Technology and Computing closely follows the Northern Ireland Curriculum, preparing graduates to teach IT and Computing to students aged 11-18. This program focuses on enhancing both your teaching skills and professional confidence in IT/Computing education. Ideal for aspiring educators, this PGCE suits graduates or soon-to-be graduates in IT/Computing fields. Additional spots are available for those wanting to teach through Irish in Irish-medium schools, with an extra Irish Medium Education (IME) certification offered in partnership with St Mary's University College.

Qualification Requirements

All applicants must possess the following
At least a 2:2 Honours degree (or higher degree) in Computer Science, Computing and IT or Software Systems Development.
Degrees in cognate areas (for example Interactive Multimedia Design, Web Design, Cloud Technologies, Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Technology Systems) may be considered if 50% or more of the modules studied are deemed currently relevant to teaching Computer Science, Digital Technology or Software Systems Development to A level, with at least 50% of final year ICT or Computing modules fulfilling the relevance criterion.
IELTS 6.5 minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
TOEFL iBT 90 with minimum marks as follows- Listening - 17 Reading - 18 Speaking - 20 Writing - 17
