The field of Biological Sciences covers a broad spectrum of bioscience topics, ranging from molecular studies to ecosystem investigations, including:
The study of biodiversity, classification systems, and environmental preservation
Examination of cellular and tissue architecture, functionality, and biological processes
Investigations into ecological relationships and organismal behavior
Analysis of structural and functional characteristics across microbes, protists, fungi, flora, and fauna
Genetic principles and evolutionary processes and patterns
The MSci in Biological Science is a research-driven program. Participants in the MSci program acquire comprehensive expertise through research-oriented learning. In their final year, students engage fully in a research-intensive setting, honing specialized research capabilities by undertaking an extensive independent project.
Throughout years 1-3, students develop hands-on laboratory and fieldwork competencies to examine and manipulate biological specimens, incorporating relevant physical, chemical, and biological assessment techniques applicable to laboratory, field, and research contexts. Third-year research projects provide access to state-of-the-art facilities spanning molecular and ecological research domains. Additional acquired competencies encompass: Data compilation, statistical evaluation and interpretation, including analytical reasoning, knowledge application, and communication skills; utilization of digital tools for information management and presentation; and cultivation of cognitive, interpersonal, and collaborative abilities for professional advancement and postgraduate studies.
