Queen's Architecture program explores the challenges of architecture and urban design in our interconnected world, where sustainability, climate concerns, cultural identity, heritage preservation, and artistic craftsmanship intersect to shape complex architectural solutions. The program equally emphasizes scholarly research and practical application. We provide comprehensive support for full-time and part-time PhD candidates examining cultural, historical, and technological influences locally and internationally, along with a part-time practice-based PhD for professionals aiming to expand their design horizons. Our research-through-design approach generates insights not just by studying existing conditions but by capturing innovative processes, behaviors, and scenarios uncovered through advanced design methodologies. In all our work, architecture serves as both an analytical tool and a benchmark for evaluating urban, suburban, and rural environments.
