Chemical Engineering focuses on creating and managing systems that transform raw materials and energy into valuable everyday products. It examines small-scale reactions and applies this knowledge to large-scale manufacturing of items like medicines, food products, energy sources, plastics, lubricants, fuels, electronic components, energy storage devices, and surface coatings. Chemical Engineers utilize applied sciences, engineering principles, technological solutions, financial analysis, and management strategies to not only develop material conversion methods but also to build, run, and oversee facilities in cost-effective, ethical, and environmentally responsible ways. This field intersects with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, as well as business and entrepreneurial studies.
Exceptional students can pursue either a four-year MEng program or a five-year MEng with industrial placement, designed for those aiming to achieve the highest levels of Chemical Engineering expertise.
