Borders have emerged as a crucial focal point in global security policies and academic discourse, spanning from the US-Mexico boundary to Europe's Mediterranean entry points. This program explores and examines the multifaceted nature of borders: they serve as markers of identity, manifestations of authority, and vulnerable junctions where the movement of individuals (such as terrorists or migrants) and goods (including narcotics and arms) can challenge existing security frameworks. Designed to guide students through this intricate landscape, the program offers comprehensive training in critical border studies. A distinctive feature is the opportunity for students to implement their theoretical knowledge in practical settings through the Borders Internship module, working alongside security and border professionals.
