This three-year undergraduate program combines academic knowledge with hands-on experience, equipping students to excel as professional Learning Disabilities Nurses. The course commences in September 2024 for enrolled students.
Participants will divide their time equally between university-based instruction on cutting-edge nursing concepts and clinical techniques, and practical placements with our globally-recognized partner organizations across diverse healthcare environments in Northern Ireland.
Our expert faculty maintain active involvement in specialized practice areas. The program's acclaimed personal tutor support system contributed to our recognition with the Best Student Experience honor at the 2021 Student Nursing Times Awards.
Graduates will qualify as Registered Learning Disabilities Nurses (RNLD), equipped with specialized competencies to address the comprehensive health, educational, and social care requirements of individuals with learning disabilities and their support networks through person-focused, collaborative approaches that enhance wellbeing.
Learning Disability Nurses provide comprehensive care throughout patients' lives, delivering assessments, treatments, education, and support across multiple environments including homes, treatment facilities, educational institutions, community settings, and specialized care units to address the needs of individuals with learning disabilities and their caregivers.
