Sociology explores the study of social interactions and human behavior. It helps students develop skills to comprehend diverse social phenomena, from worldwide issues (like political power, religious dynamics, conflicts, digital advancements, environmental crises, and various inequalities) to personal aspects (such as family dynamics, relationships, emotions, personal beliefs, and psychological well-being). By applying theoretical frameworks and research methods, Queen's Sociology program teaches students to analyze social structures critically, fostering engaged and thoughtful global citizens.
Global Opportunities
Our students frequently participate in Study Abroad programs, including Erasmus exchanges (with partner institutions in Barcelona, Sweden's Lund, Paris and Aix-en-Provence in France, Munich and Dusseldorf in Germany, Rotterdam and Nijmegen in the Netherlands, and Finland's Jyvaskyla). Additionally, we welcome international students who enroll in Sociology courses, especially those aligned with Queen's distinguished research strengths (such as Conflict Studies, Ethnic Identity, Family Dynamics, Social Inequality, Religious Studies, Activism, and Societal Transformation).
