Students enrolled in English and Politics programs at Queen's examine English literature in its broadest context. They engage with works ranging from ancient Anglo-Saxon texts to modern Irish, British, and international literature, analyzing these works within their historical, cultural, and ideological contexts. In Politics, learners evaluate the roots of conflict and cooperation, examining how power dynamics and decision-making processes operate within and across societies, how ideological and organizational structures express differences, and potential methods for resolving disputes.
International Study Options
Queen's English program provides diverse Study Abroad possibilities, including participation in the Erasmus program with various European universities and opportunities at partner institutions across the United States. The Politics department collaborates with Queen's Global Research Centre, The Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice. Numerous Politics faculty members serve as Fellows at the Mitchell Institute, working alongside specialists in peace and conflict studies from fields like law, sociology, and creative arts.
