Students pursuing English and History degrees at Queen's examine literature, language, and historical studies in their broadest contexts. The curriculum spans from ancient Anglo-Saxon texts to modern Irish, British, and world literatures, alongside historical studies ranging from classical Greece and Rome to contemporary Irish, European, American, and Asian history. The English program investigates linguistic, historical, and ideological contexts, while History offers specialized modules covering gender studies, sociocultural history, colonial studies, political developments, and religious/economic transformations.
International Study Options
Queen's English department provides diverse study abroad experiences, including participation in the Erasmus program with European universities and exchange opportunities with American partner institutions.
We encourage applications from European students interested in joining Queen's through the Erasmus initiative. This program allows currently enrolled European university students to spend either a semester or full academic year studying at Queen's while taking a break from their home institutions.
