The Media and Arts Technology PhD program equips doctoral candidates to excel as researchers bridging science, technology, digital media, and creative arts. Program Structure Building upon Queen Mary's renowned Media and Arts Technology (MAT) Centre for Doctoral Training, this unique PhD differs from conventional UK programs by combining coursework with doctoral research, welcoming students with Master's degrees from diverse fields. The curriculum specifically prepares students in interdisciplinary methodologies for Media and Arts Technology research. The program comprises three key elements: Six specialized courses covering technical expertise and interaction design; An in-depth research project; Doctoral research culminating in a thesis defense. Full-time students typically complete the program in 3-4 years, while part-time students take 6-7 years.
A first-class honours degree in Mathematics or Statistics or the equivalent qualification from an overseas institution. If your qualifications are not from a UK university, QMUL also considers recognised equivalent qualifications from accredited overseas institutions and equivalent professional qualification.
 
IELTS (Academic) minimum score 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each of Writing, Listening, Reading and Speaking.  TOEFL minimum score 92 overall with 21 in Writing, 19 in Reading, 18 in Listening and 21 in Speaking.
