Our program focuses heavily on hands-on lab training and career-ready skills, providing a thorough exploration of this dynamic discipline. Discover how pharmaceutical compounds progress from initial leads to optimized drugs, including their mechanisms and pharmacological effects. The curriculum covers the entire development pathway from clinical trials to production. While synthetic organic chemistry forms the core, you'll also receive solid training in physical and inorganic chemistry alongside spectroscopic techniques. The program includes studies in pharmacology, biochemistry, and anticancer treatments. Your final year features an independent research project, with options for either lab work or literature review.

Graduates are not only prepared for roles in the UK's substantial pharmaceutical and chemical sectors but are also sought after in business and finance for their analytical and data management capabilities. Opt for our Pharmaceutical Chemistry MSci to dedicate an additional year to an expanded research initiative and advanced coursework - ideal for those pursuing research careers in academia or industry.
