Astrophysics utilizes principles of physics and mathematics to analyze celestial bodies like planets, stars, and galaxies, as well as the cosmos in its entirety. Investigating the beginnings and development of the universe stands as one of contemporary science's most fascinating and complex challenges. This program employs both hands-on and theoretical methods to examine the characteristics and progression of astrophysical phenomena. You'll utilize astronomical techniques to ascertain the makeup and location of distant stars and galaxies. Additionally, you'll gain insight into how dark matter and dark energy influence the universe's large-scale framework and its increasing rate of expansion. Specialized courses concentrate on cosmology, galactic systems, stellar objects, and planetary formations, instructed by leading researchers engaged in prominent, ongoing scientific investigations. Supplementary elective modules enable exploration of subjects beyond the core curriculum, offering a comprehensive physics education alongside specialized knowledge. You'll acquire practical laboratory and programming skills applicable to commercial, industrial, or academic research settings. Opting for a Year Abroad opportunity places this experience in your third or fourth academic year, after which you'll resume studies at Queen Mary for your concluding year(s).
