This MRes program is ideal if you want to explore how creative arts contribute to mental health—whether as a means to deepen understanding in critical mental health, as therapeutic and preventive approaches, or for educating professionals and the public. It's tailored for students admitted to doctoral research training via the LISS DTP Programme. You should only apply for the MRes if you're also applying to the LISS DTP. The MRes Social Science Enquiry in Creative Arts and Mental Health serves as a pre-doctoral training initiative, offering a research-focused examination of arts in mental health, covering social science investigations of applied arts projects and community-based arts practices. The curriculum includes essential research skills training for doctoral studies. In addition to two core modules shared with the MSc Creative Arts and Mental Health, the program features mandatory courses in research design, qualitative, and quantitative methods. These are taken alongside social science students from Queen Mary, King's College London, and Imperial College as part of the ESRC-funded London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS DTP).
