Examine the complex relationships (both connections and divisions) between nations in the Global North and Global South. This program invites you to envision new pathways for international development, blending innovative perspectives on global progress, economic geography, political economy, workforce dynamics, globalization, and societal transformation. You'll be prompted to question the predominant reliance on Western historical frameworks and classifications, instead exploring the unique characteristics of Global South populations, economic systems, urban environments, and governance structures from their own perspectives. This approach moves beyond traditional development paradigms and their policy implications. Through your studies, you'll analyze these realities by comparing and contrasting Global North and South contexts while evaluating various theoretical frameworks for understanding development futures. Career opportunities This program equips graduates for diverse professional paths, with particular emphasis on building the research capabilities and specialized expertise needed for roles in NGOs, development agencies, government departments, and academic research positions.
