Software engineers create, develop, and evaluate top-tier software applications while maintaining strong security measures. They usually collaborate within team environments. This degree apprenticeship equips you with the necessary abilities and practical knowledge for a career in software engineering. You'll attend part-time classes at Queen Mary's campus, studying alongside students in our traditional BSc programs. During the remaining weekdays, you'll gain hands-on experience working with one of our employer partners.

Qualification Requirements

Queen Mary and the employer agree the exact academic entry requirements for each apprenticeship. Grades given below are indicative. Further details are given on the entry requirements page. Generally, we expect our degree apprentices to demonstrate similar academic achievements to full-time BSc students. A-level Grades AAB at A-Level. Alternatively, A-Level grades ABB including either A-Level Mathematics or Computer Science. Excludes General Studies and Critical Thinking. International Baccalaureate (IB) 34 points overall, including 6,6,5 from three Higher Level subjects. Alternatively, 32 points overall including 6,5,5 from three Higher Level subjects including Mathematics or Computer Science. BTEC RQF (2016) D*DD in Computing with a B or 6 in GCSE Mathematics Access HE Access to Higher Education Diploma in Computing. The minimum academic requirement is to achieve 60 credits overall, with 45 credits at Level 3, of which 30 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher. Applications are considered on a case by case basis. Due to the high volume of applications, we do not make offers of study purely on the basis of meeting grade requirements. GCSE Mathematics at grade B/5 is required in addition to the Access qualification. GCSE Minimum five GCSE passes including English at grade C or 4 and Maths at grade B or 5. IELTS Academic: 6.0 overall including 5.5 in Writing, in Reading, Listening and Speaking. TOEFL:79 overall including 17 in Writing and Listening, 18 in Reading, and 20 in Speaking.
