Our intercalated Bachelor of Science in Medical Education offers current medical students the chance to earn an additional qualification in this specialized area. You'll acquire educational skills that can be applied when working with patients and colleagues in your future practice. The program helps you build hands-on teaching abilities while providing a strong foundation in educational theory - covering topics like memory function, group learning dynamics, success factors, professional development, and assessment techniques. You'll complete a year-long research methods module, including participation in the Researching Medical Education conference, followed by an independent research project to apply your knowledge.
This program equips graduates to be the next generation of medical educators - capable, thoughtful instructors who can contribute significantly to medical schools, their programs, and curriculum development. These teaching skills also prove valuable in patient interactions, particularly when discussing treatments and explaining medical conditions.
