Building surveyors play a role throughout a structure's entire lifecycle - from initial design through construction and ongoing maintenance. To thrive in this profession, you'll require diverse expertise, including building inspection capabilities, material evaluation, cost forecasting, and leadership abilities. Our program delivers comprehensive training in these areas and beyond. A mandatory work placement year serves as a cornerstone of this curriculum. This requirement ensures employers access a consistent talent pipeline, attracting leading firms to recruit our students annually. The placement also allows us to concentrate on cultivating practical, job-ready skills.
This program holds accreditation from both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building, enabling student membership in these professional organizations. Unlike many specialized programs, we've intentionally created flexibility within our curriculum. Recognizing the construction industry's vast scope, we've structured the course to expose you to multiple specialties. Our construction programs share foundational coursework during the first three years, allowing students to switch specializations until their fourth year.
