The Barristers Training Course (BTC), overseen by the Bar Standards Board (BSB), provides a pathway to master the knowledge domains and competencies outlined by the BSB.
This program aims to expand your legal expertise and refine the abilities acquired in prior legal education. It cultivates the essential qualities needed to excel as a barrister while ensuring you fulfill the BSB's Professional Statement criteria.
After a two-week orientation covering Legal Research and Case Analysis, you'll work through seven authentic case files (four criminal and three civil) from start to finish. These case studies serve as the foundation for developing knowledge and skills as you engage with legal instructions. Graduating from this course qualifies you for Bar admission and prepares you for pupillage. Our specialized career support team assists with securing pupillage or exploring other career options through hands-on workshops and guidance.
The team delivers practical assistance, including interview simulations. Throughout the year, we host tailored presentations addressing students' evolving needs during their application journey. These sessions highlight both barrister practice—the primary goal for most participants—and alternative career paths.
