This teaching program equips graduates with the essential knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to instruct ICT and Computer Science at the secondary education level. The curriculum combines university-based lectures and seminars with hands-on classroom placements, ensuring trainees emerge as confident educators prepared for secondary school teaching. The program offers two qualification levels, both recognized teaching credentials, with the postgraduate option enabling accelerated access to Master's programs: Professional Graduate Certificate in Education and Postgraduate Certificate in Education. Participants select their preferred qualification during the course, with successful completion granting Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The program focuses on cultivating expertise in ICT and computer science, pedagogical principles for diverse learners, and professional competencies aligned with the subject specialization. This encompasses child development across cognitive, social, and physical domains, along with the necessary skills for effective classroom management.
All participants complete a module exploring broader educational contexts, developing crucial knowledge and abilities for their initial teaching roles while establishing a base for ongoing professional growth. The module features both large-group lectures and seminar discussions, often trainee-led with tutor guidance, helping participants meet Teachers' Standards by connecting educational theory with classroom practice.
