Northumbria's Legal Practice Course (LPC) delivers hands-on professional training in various legal disciplines, helping you translate theoretical knowledge into real-world applications. This SRA-approved program features adaptable study pathways, letting you focus on your preferred legal specialization. Our LPC curriculum allows you to explore your legal interests while equipping you for solicitor qualification. During your Legal Practice Diploma studies, you'll benefit from personalized career guidance to boost your professional prospects. The course creates a vital link between your academic legal background (whether from an LLB or GDL) and the practical requirements of legal practice. Through partnerships with Citizens Advice Newcastle and Support Through Court, you can apply (if successful) to volunteer with these legal charities, gaining practical experience while helping community members access justice. Selected students may also participate in Northumbria's acclaimed Student Law Office, offering legal services to the public under professional supervision.
Our comprehensive careers initiative features regular legal sector events, including employer talks and skill-building sessions. The Graduate Futures team offers personalized career coaching at every stage of your professional development, from networking strategies to CV refinement. Our teaching faculty brings diverse legal practice experience and welcomes discussions about career pathways. The Law School's mock interview program gives all students the chance to rehearse and receive feedback before actual job interviews. The university's employability hub provides law students with exclusive resources: job listings, digital CV analysis, interview simulations, psychometric testing, and career planning tools. Annual Careers Fairs and specialized workshops further enhance your professional preparation. We additionally offer financial support through our Employability Learning Fund, specifically designed to assist Widening Participation students in accessing career opportunities. Further specialized employability assistance may be available upon inquiry.
