Focusing on real-world applications of cutting-edge sports science, our Sport and Exercise Science program delves into psychology, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, strength training, and performance analysis to prepare future champions. This three-year full-time sports science degree (or four years with optional work placements, study abroad, or our International Business Year in your second year) lets you apply your learning in practical settings.

Through hands-on training, you'll gain the expertise and confidence for diverse careers like Exercise Physiologist, Personal Trainer, Sports Coach, or Sports Development Officer. Many graduates pursue further studies in fields like physiotherapy or postgraduate programs, joining Northumbria's legacy of sporting excellence - including Olympian Victoria Pendleton, Commonwealth swimmer Chris Cook, and rugby star Jamie Noon. From a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A-level, T Level, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the International Baccalaureate.
GCSE Requirements:

Applicants will need Maths and English Language at minimum grade 4/C, or an equivalent.
International applicants should have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with 5.5 in each component .
