Our Biomedical Science program, accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), offers comprehensive training in both general and specialized areas of biomedical science. You'll explore how human cells, organs, and systems operate while learning core concepts about disease development and therapeutic approaches. In your second year, you can opt for a year-long placement in industry or an approved NHS training lab. Choosing the NHS pathway enables progression to the BSc Applied Biomedical Science program, qualifying you for HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist after graduation. This BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science program holds official IBMS accreditation.
Graduates will possess a solid foundation for advanced study or research, along with versatile skills valuable in biomedical science and other fields. The curriculum prepares you to contribute meaningfully to healthcare, diagnostics, and disease management while developing competencies in critical analysis, teamwork, communication, data interpretation, and independent problem-solving. Career opportunities include roles as Analytical Chemists, Toxicologists, Medicinal Chemists, or Biomedical Scientists. NHS placement students become eligible for HCPC registration upon completing their degree. Our ongoing IBMS evaluations guarantee that graduates meet the standards for diverse specialist positions in pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, or NHS institutions.
