Our program integrates essential accounting principles with hands-on learning through real-world case studies, featuring an optional year-long placement between your second and final year. This valuable experience enhances your resume, whether you're pursuing a training contract or a career in corporate accounting. Certain placements may even fulfill the practical requirements for full membership in the prestigious Association of Accounting Technicians. For those aiming to become chartered accountants, our Accounting degree is tailored to meet professional body requirements. Currently, our BSc (Hons) provides 42 exemptions across six major global accounting organizations, allowing you to enter the workforce with significant professional credentials already completed. Newcastle Business School's Accounting program holds the esteemed AACSB accreditation, and our practical, career-focused approach consistently earns high marks from students, maintaining a 91% satisfaction rate in NSS surveys over six years.

With 42 exemptions, our BSc Accounting reduces the post-graduation exams needed for professional qualification—often requiring only a few final-level assessments. Our Careers and Employment Service supports your career journey through workshops, personalized guidance, and networking events. According to NSS 2019, 95% of students found their developed skills valuable for future careers, with many graduates joining top accounting firms or corporate roles. Alumni have secured positions at PWC, Tait Walker, Procter & Gamble, and Billy Casper Golf. Accountants handle financial audits, budget management, and advisory services, with many advancing to leadership roles—1 in 6 UK FTSE 100 CEOs began with finance/accounting degrees. For further study, options like our MSc in Forensic Accounting are available. As a Northumbria graduate, you'll gain strong employability through skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and ethical problem-solving—all emphasized across our curriculum.
