Our Business and Marketing program provides an in-depth exploration of marketing research and strategy, with specialized modules covering retail marketing, relationship marketing, content marketing, consumer behavior, and customer experience. The balanced 50-50 curriculum between marketing and general business studies prepares graduates for diverse career opportunities, from specialized marketing positions to broader business roles. Students can enhance their learning through optional work placements, international study, or a combination of both. In the final year, students may participate in a group consultancy project through our Business Clinic, undertake an individual management research project, or complete a dissertation - with options varying based on prior placement experience. The program's curriculum, developed in collaboration with industry leaders like the Data and Marketing Association (DMA) and Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), offers professional-level knowledge that qualifies students for exemptions from certain professional certifications. Additionally, the program benefits from Newcastle Business School's prestigious AACSB accreditation.
Career readiness forms the foundation of all our Business programs, with each module designed to build essential workplace skills. We've incorporated two specialized career development modules: Marketing Study and Consultancy Skills, and Preparing for Professional Practice. Beyond academics, students can gain practical experience through international study opportunities (including EU destinations, the USA, Australia, or China), optional placement years, our Marketing Internship Program, or hands-on client projects through our Business Clinic. Graduates emerge prepared for diverse career paths, with particular strengths in marketing executive or branding strategist roles, while also being well-positioned for postgraduate studies like our MSc in Digital Marketing. Entrepreneurial students can draw inspiration from Northumbria's outstanding graduate startup success rate, which surpasses all other UK universities. Regardless of career direction, Northumbria graduates develop strong employability through our focus on critical workplace competencies like reflective learning, teamwork, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making - skills consistently reinforced throughout every Business School module.
