The Secondary PGCE provides hands-on training for aspiring teachers. You'll build the professional skills, knowledge, and insights needed to educate secondary school students, including those in post-16 education.
Throughout the program, you'll complete 60 credits of graduate-level coursework. These modules occur in real school settings, designed to support your practical experience while improving both student results and your teaching abilities.
At Newcastle University, your training will focus on:
acquiring fundamental competencies required for new teachers (ECTs)
deepening your subject-specific teaching expertise through specialized curriculum studies
The program prioritizes improving education and wellbeing for young learners, with faculty research directly informing these priorities.
You'll complete 60 credits of master's-level work during the PGCE, with school-based modules that reinforce your classroom practice and contribute to both student success and your career growth.
