Our program enables you to investigate both clinical and pathological dimensions of cancer. The Cancer MRes welcomes graduates holding a BSc in life sciences or related scientific fields, along with intercalating and qualified MBBS or BDS students. This qualification can be pursued independently or serve as a pathway to PhD or MD studies. You'll learn within a Faculty recognized among the top 100 for Medicine and Life Sciences, with additional recognition in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 for Medicine. The curriculum offers flexible module choices to create a personalized learning experience, followed by an intensive 24-week Cancer Research project. The program evolves continuously to incorporate: advancements in the field, external accreditation requirements, and student input. Industry exposure opportunities may also be available.
This MRes serves as a springboard for research careers in academic or industrial settings, while also providing strong PhD preparation. Alumni from Newcastle's Faculty of Medical Sciences MRes have secured diverse positions including: project coordinator, research assistant, consulting associate, data analysts, laboratory scientist, Marie Curie researcher, clinical trial specialist, healthcare communications roles, medical author, physician, lab technician, pharmaceutical sales representative, and immunology development lead.
