Our Heritage Studies programs allow you to enhance your expertise in heritage management, education, and interpretation. These courses explore essential elements of heritage tourism and visitor interaction, incorporating insights from specialist faculty, guest lecturers, and field trips to regional heritage locations. The curriculum emphasizes practical learning with contributions from heritage experts across the region and nationally, including professionals from Historic England, the National Trust, National Park Authority, and Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums, alongside independent consultants. Upon completion, you'll be prepared for careers in heritage or advanced research opportunities. This program belongs to the Media, Culture, and Heritage department within the School of Arts and Cultures, which boasts a vibrant interdisciplinary research environment comprising both postgraduate students and distinguished scholars. Heritage Studies maintains a partnership with the International Centre for Cultural and Heritage Studies (ICCHS), a premier institution for museum, gallery, and heritage research and education.
