The MA in Applied Criminology, Youth and Criminal Justice is tailored for professionals currently employed or aspiring to work in crime and justice sectors. This program provides an in-depth exploration of modern challenges encountered by criminal justice professionals and managers, along with the evolving functions of agencies and practitioners within this field.
Taught by distinguished researchers and incorporating insights from active field practitioners, the degree combines conventional academic instruction through lectures, seminars, and tutorials. Students also have the option to complete up to one-third of their coursework through work-based learning (for those already in relevant roles) or via internships with organizations like Youth Offending Teams, Drug and Alcohol Support Services, or Community Safety Partnerships.
Core components are scheduled for one evening per week to accommodate working professionals. The remaining curriculum consists of optional daytime modules, one distance-learning module, or a combination of dissertation projects (either long or short) alongside work-based learning or internship modules.
