This program provides an alternative route into our BSc Honours Veterinary Nursing degree for students who don't currently meet the admission criteria or need additional preparation before starting university-level studies.
The initial foundation year covers essential veterinary nursing concepts and builds the necessary skills for degree-level work. Students who successfully complete this preparatory year will progress to the full Veterinary Nursing bachelor's program.
Our practical teaching approach combines classroom learning with real-world experience in small animal clinics. Under the guidance of veterinary experts, you'll acquire clinical competencies including diagnostic testing, medical treatment administration, minor surgical assistance, and the theoretical foundations behind these procedures.
The curriculum examines the core principles of professional veterinary nursing, covering essential anatomical, biomedical and physiological knowledge related to animal healthcare. You'll also investigate contemporary challenges in veterinary medicine and discuss the evolving responsibilities of qualified veterinary nurses.
