The Foundation Year in Computing and Engineering serves as an introductory pathway for students who need to meet the prerequisites for direct entry into computing or design engineering degree programs. This four-year program incorporates a foundational year, where you'll explore how various individuals and organizations utilize computer systems while building essential software development capabilities and hardware understanding. You'll also strengthen your mathematical, statistical, and communication abilities.
Upon successful completion of the foundation year, you'll advance directly into one of our three-year undergraduate programs. Many students who transition to degree studies excel academically and often emerge as top-performing graduates.
This foundation year is ideal if:
you lack the required qualifications for direct degree entry
you need additional preparation before tackling degree-level coursework
you're returning to education and want to refresh your academic skills before starting a degree program
Program duration: 1 year foundation + 3 years degree study
