The Foundation Year in Law and Social Sciences serves as an introductory pathway to degrees in law, politics, criminology, or sociology for students who currently don't meet standard entry requirements. This four-year program begins with a foundational year, after which successful students advance directly into our three-year degree programs in these fields. Many foundation students transition smoothly to degree studies, with some becoming our top-performing alumni.
The Foundation Year is ideal if:
you lack the necessary qualifications for direct degree entry
you need additional preparation before starting degree-level work
you're returning to education and want support adjusting to academic demands
This preparatory year equips students for undergraduate studies in law, criminology, or sociology.
Designed for those without traditional qualifications or needing subject-specific preparation, this one-year course also benefits returning students seeking to refresh their academic skills.
