The MChem (Hons) Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a comprehensive four-year integrated master's program that equips students with essential skills and knowledge for a career in pharmaceutical chemistry and drug discovery.
This curriculum covers diverse subjects, offering both broad foundational knowledge and specialized pharmaceutical chemistry expertise. Alongside core chemistry topics, research methodologies, and professional lab techniques, the program delves into specialized domains including pharmaceutical testing, medication effectiveness, computational drug development, and pharmaceutical quality assurance at the cutting edge of the discipline.
A key feature of this MChem (Hons) program is its dedicated research component, where students undertake a year-long independent project in medicinal chemistry - designing, executing, and presenting their work while continuing other academic studies.
Students also have the opportunity to enhance their experience through an optional additional year, either studying abroad at a partner institution or gaining practical industry experience through a placement, subject to availability.
