The Master of Landscape Architecture program provides an academic pathway to professional licensure as a landscape architect.
This MLA degree holds accreditation from the UK Landscape Institute and global recognition from the International Federation of Landscape Architects, equipping students for the culminating phase of professional certification. Jointly administered by Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester, students gain access to the combined resources and specialized knowledge of both institutions.
At MSA, we maintain that landscape architects play a vital role in addressing climate and ecological crises, advancing social justice, developing public spaces as shared assets, and positively impacting communities.
The program fosters creative exploration through research initiatives, real-world projects, and our distinctive studio atelier framework that values diverse perspectives. The MLA encourages varied critical methodologies along with broad creative and analytical techniques.
Students work with dedicated landscape faculty while benefiting from cross-disciplinary opportunities and access to extensive academic and professional networks. Graduates develop collaborative skills, establish connections across the Manchester School of Architecture and industry partners, and build comprehensive portfolios that enhance their employment prospects both regionally and internationally.
