Our BSc (Hons) Applied Computing program provides comprehensive knowledge of IT and computing industry standards. You'll build technical expertise while learning how these skills function within organizational settings through studies in systems analysis, project management, software development, data management, and information systems administration.
The curriculum begins with foundational technical subjects including programming, computational mathematics, web development, computer architectures, and databases, while simultaneously enhancing teamwork and communication abilities. As you advance, you'll focus on specialized areas like IT project coordination, systems analysis, software development methodologies, networking, and database model implementation. In your final year, you'll explore IT systems operations, advanced data management, database architecture optimization, and undertake a major capstone project.
Beyond computing proficiency, you'll develop essential career skills including collaborative teamwork, professional documentation, effective communication, and negotiation techniques.
The BSc (Hons) Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Software Engineering, and BSc (Hons) Applied Computing programs share identical first-year coursework, offering flexibility to transfer between these degrees after your initial year.
