For students with academic potential who fall short of entry requirements, a foundation year serves as a stepping stone to Year 1 of your degree. This preparatory year focuses on building essential skills through Academic Practice units while introducing key humanities subjects. Upon successful completion, you'll seamlessly transition into the first year of your selected honors program. Career opportunities Completing the foundation year ensures direct entry into your chosen degree program. History graduates from our BA (Hons) program find employment across diverse fields including heritage institutions like museums, galleries, and archives, as well as sectors such as education, finance, government, and law. Many alumni pursue advanced studies through our MA programs in History or Public History and Heritage, while others opt for teaching qualifications through PGCE courses.

GCE A levels - grades DDD or equivalent
Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma - grade MMP
Access to HE Diploma - Pass overall with a minimum 72 UCAS Tariff points
UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma - grade of Pass overall
OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - grade MMP
T level - We welcome applications from students undertaking T level qualifications. Eligible applicants will be asked to achieve a minimum overall grade of Pass as a condition of offer
IB Diploma - Pass overall with a minimum overall score of 24 or minimum 72 UCAS Tariff points from three Higher Level subjects
Other Level 3 qualifications equivalent to GCE A level are also considered. 
A maximum of three A level-equivalent qualifications will be accepted towards meeting the UCAS tariff requirement. 
AS levels, or qualifications equivalent to AS level, are not accepted. The Extended Project qualification (EPQ) may be accepted towards entry, in conjunction with two A-level equivalent qualifications.
