Housed in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, our Geography and Environment faculty consists of dedicated researchers who collaborate across disciplinary lines.
With more than 35 faculty members recognized as global specialists, Geography and Environment maintains a strong international standing for research spanning both physical and human geography. Our human geography research focuses on critical areas like urban studies, population movements, educational landscapes, and family/youth geographies. In physical geography, we investigate pressing issues such as environmental change mitigation, analysis of extreme weather phenomena and their social consequences, plus climate-energy-water interconnections.
Currently, we're directing several innovative research initiatives supported by prominent international organizations and UK governmental agencies, bridging physical and human geography to address pressing global issues.
Our degree holders enjoy exceptional career prospects. We integrate professional skills development throughout our curriculum, preparing graduates for diverse roles across multiple industries.
The vast majority of our postgraduate students secure employment shortly after completing their studies, while others pursue advanced academic research pathways.
