Numerous practical challenges are addressed through an integrated approach combining mathematical and computational methods. Our MSci (Hons) program in Computer Science and Mathematics provides comprehensive training in both fields and their synergistic applications.
The disciplines of mathematics and computer science are fundamentally interconnected. Our MSci program is designed to give students a robust toolkit for tackling complex problems, offering exceptional preparation for careers bridging these two fields, as well as traditional paths available to graduates specializing in either discipline.
The curriculum maintains an equal balance between computer science and mathematics topics, ensuring graduates gain extensive expertise in both areas. During the first two years, students master essential mathematical concepts with a focus on computational techniques, alongside core computer science principles emphasizing mathematical foundations.
In the third year, students undertake an interdisciplinary project combining computer science and mathematics knowledge, while customizing their studies through elective modules in both subjects.
The MSci's additional year offers deeper exploration of entrepreneurial concepts, advanced mathematical modeling, and the chance to enhance research capabilities through a significant supervised research project.
